Core Dantian Gong

Developing the Dantian

The lower Dantian is a fundamental centre of Qigong practice, but its capacity is not something we innately have access to. Through specific Dantian Gong practices, we begin to develop the field of the lower Dantian and build its capacity to gather and hold Qi.

This module introduces the foundations of Dantian Gong, exploring practices that develop the Dantian through breath, movement, attention and stillness. Through these practices, we begin to establish a centre from which Qi can be cultivated, gathered and stored.

With consistent practice, you begin to develop a more tangible relationship with the lower Dantian and with Qi as a felt experience. This forms an important foundation for deeper Neigong practice and the ongoing cultivation of internal capacity.

What this develops

  • A more tangible awareness of the lower Dantian

  • An introduction to gathering and holding Qi within the Dantian field

  • Greater familiarity with the relationship between breath, attention, movement and Qi

  • A stronger sense of internal stability and connection

  • An understanding of the foundational principles of Dantian Gong

  • A foundation for deeper Neigong practice and internal cultivation

Entering the Internal Practice

Dantian Gong is a doorway into the deeper internal dimensions of Qigong. It is where we begin to move beyond working primarily with movement and the circulation of Qi and start to develop the capacity to gather, hold and cultivate Qi within the lower Dantian.

The practices in this module introduce the fundamental principles of Dantian Gong through standing, movement, breath, attention and stillness. Through repetition, you begin to become familiar with the lower Dantian as something you can actually experience and work with, rather than simply an idea within Qigong theory.

The aim is not to force Qi into the Dantian or create a particular sensation. Instead, the practices create the conditions for the Dantian field to develop. As that capacity grows, your relationship with Qi begins to change.

Dantian Gong provides the foundation for entering Neigong more deeply. If you're ready to move beyond learning Qigong forms and begin exploring how internal capacity is cultivated, this is where that journey begins.
