Earth Element Qigong
Form | Theory | Practices | Attunement
Earth is associated with nourishment, receptivity, stability and the capacity to receive and transform what sustains us. In the Five Element system, it is connected with the Spleen and Stomach and with the processes of digestion, nourishment and integration.
This module gives you a way to explore Earth through several layers of practice. You’ll learn a Qigong form while also exploring the theory and philosophy of the element, its relationship with the organs and meridians, and the ways it appears through nature, food, taste, emotion and patterns of imbalance.
Alongside the form, we work with practices including acupressure, meditation and energetic attunement, giving you different ways to engage with the qualities of Earth.
What this develops
A deeper understanding of the qualities and principles of Earth
Greater familiarity with the relationship between Earth and the wider Five Element system
Sensitivity to the qualities of Earth through movement, practice and direct experience
An understanding of how Earth can be recognised through the body, emotions, environment and everyday life
A foundation for deeper exploration of the Five Elements through practice and attunement
Experiencing the nature of Earth
Earth is the element of nourishment, receptivity and integration. It is the part of the cycle that receives what is offered, takes it in and transforms it into something that can sustain us. Through practice, we begin to explore these qualities not just as ideas, but as felt experiences in the body.
The Qigong form gives you a way to experience Earth through movement, breath, attention and stillness. You may begin to notice qualities such as weight, stability, softness, receptivity and the capacity to settle. There is also a quality of gathering in Earth, of allowing things to come together rather than continually reaching outward.
The module gives you a broader understanding of Earth within the Five Element system, including its relationship with the Spleen and Stomach, nourishment and digestion, as well as its expression through food, taste, emotion, nature and everyday life.
And as with the other elements, there is another layer beneath the physical practice. Qigong is not simply about learning movements that represent an element. It is about developing the sensitivity to perceive its frequency and recognise its qualities directly. Through practice and attunement, you begin to develop a more intimate relationship with the energy of Earth and with your own capacity to receive, transform and integrate.
